Imaginnovate enhances Fleet Enable to track
final-mile teams in field

WorkForce Management helps manage white glove delivery teams

SAN DIEGO, CA, JAN. 12, 2022 – Logistics technology developer Imaginnovate today announced a new feature to Fleet Enable providing final-mile carriers significant advantage in managing white glove deliveries. The firm said its WorkForce Management feature would map delivery teams in real time, tracking everything from location to availability. It said the app would be uniquely suited to white glove shipments requiring two-person delivery crews.

“This is a new feature to Fleet Enable that allows carriers to track the driver and his next deliveries while simultaneously tracking his colleague who stays behind to install the shipment,” explained Imaginnovate CEO Krishna Vattipalli. “It tracks both people doing two different jobs at the same time so that the dispatcher can follow teams in the field and the back office can invoice each person’s activities accurately.”

Imaginnovate said WorkForce Management is the latest addition to its Fleet Enable software platform introduced last year. Fleet Enable was designed to automate all aspects of the final-mile industry. Imaginnovate described its latest tool as a field service management platform. It said WorkForce Management functionality would include:

  • Real-time visibility into which delivery team members are currently active or inactive in the field;
  • Live mapping of each delivery crew to assist dispatchers in finding the nearest member available for a new task; and
  • Tracking the number of visits that a field team member has completed so that reports can be generated for a single day or multiple days.

Imaginnovate said white glove delivery teams would access WorkForce Management on mobile phones. They’d use it to log everything from activity status to time tracking, the company explained. Imaginnovate said the new app would speed up back office reporting of shipment activity, invoicing and driver payments.

“Our mission is to improve efficiencies for all of a final-mile carrier’s stakeholders,” said Imaginnovate Sales Vice President John Coussa. “We achieve this by automating the carrier’s operational and back office business functions.”

Imaginnovate said it’s targeting white glove carriers in the final-mile delivery market because of changing consumer habits. Online shopping hyper-charged by the coronavirus pandemic has stressed carrier capacity, the company said. Drivers are delivering and installing everything from refrigerators to television sets at homes or businesses.

“This is no longer a phenomenon…it’s the way of life in commerce,” said Mr. Vattipalli. “Automation is the only way final-mile carriers can keep up with increasing demand from shippers and customers.”

Fleet Enable logistics breakthrough: Free EDI

Carriers no longer pay for electronic requests or responses for freight shipments

AUSTIN, TX, SEP. 13, 2023 – Logistics technology innovator Fleet Enable today announced an industry first: no charge Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) order taking and responses for freight transporters. The Austin-based software creator said it’s offering carriers (EDI) with its namesake Transportation Management System. The technology permits freight haulers to receive digital orders and return responses from shippers without manual intervention.

Fleet Enable is believed to be the only logistics technology provider offering no charge EDI. The technology has become industry standard for carriers hauling freight over the road. But until now, it has come at a price. For large carriers receiving thousands of electronic order requests and responses monthly, the cost can be significant. It can also inhibit growth as increased business results in increased EDI charges.

“We’re making this technology available at no charge as an investment in the industry and in our client partners,” said Fleet Enable CEO Krishna Vattipalli. “We’re doing this as a prime mover in the effort to automate transportation and logistics.”

EDI provides an automated connection to Fleet Enable’s Transportation Management System (TMS). Its technology platform automates all aspects of a freight hauler’s business, from order, route planning to billing. Fleet Enable said it has signed an agreement with Illinois-based Kleinschmidt Inc. to help provide EDI technology to their partners.

Here’s how Fleet Enable’s system works:

  • Shippers send electronic shipment requests to their carrier partners.
  • Fleet Enable’s Transportation Management System automatically accepts the EDI requests.
  • The system routes requests throughout the carrier’s enterprise, from warehouse to dispatch and billing.
  • The carrier can then in turn automatically deliver confirmations, status updates, tracking information and exceptions back to the shipper via EDI.

The purpose of EDI is to complete the transaction with minimum manual handling, Fleet Enable explained. That’s because automation has been identified as critical to success in the increasingly competitive logistics sector. Efficient, lower-cost operators are considered likely industry survivors.

Electronic order taking has replaced faxed requests for most shippers and freight haulers, Fleet Enable said. Some shippers, however, still transmit shipment requests via email. Fleet Enable said it has developed technology to automatically forward emailed requests to its Fleet Enable Transportation Management System.

“There’s no one way of doing business in the logistics industry,” explained Mr. Vattipalli. “That’s why we tailor our system to the diverse needs of our clients and their customers.”

Fleet Enable is introducing no cost EDI for a two year period to the logistics industry. The company said its offer would be good through the end of 2023.
